Historic Hotels | Energihotellet is a small, intimate design hotel situated at Nesflaten in the southern reaches of Fjord Norway, along the interior route between Stavanger and Bergen, midway between Trolltunga [the Troll’s Tongue] and Preikestolen [the Pulpit Rock]. The hotel’s proximity to the E134 makes access by car easy from all parts of southern Norway.

The hotel was designed in the 1960s by the renowned architect Geir Grung and built as part of Norsk Hydro’s power plant, Røldal-Suldal Kraft. The architecture comprises a residence, power installations and what is now Energihotellet. The Functionalist–Brutalist architecture challenges our preconceptions of the building style we would expect to see in a small village in Western Norway.

Energihotellet is a family-run hotel where local food, industrial history, architecture and culture take centre stage, with Suldalsvatnet lake and the surrounding mountains providing the backdrop.
