Check in at Hotel Ullensvang, situated in the heart of Hardanger, approx. 115 km from Bergen and 40 km from Voss. Hotel Ullensvang’s history dates back to 1846. Today, the hotel has an impressive range of facilities, including the wonderful Ullensvang Bath with swimming pools indoors and outdoors, tennis court and restaurant serving dishes based on wonderful local produce. Located at the heart of beautiful Hardanger, the hotel is the perfect base for exploring the region.
Enjoy the facilities and historic surroundings and end each day with a dinner (served at 19:00). The cider adventure starts the day after arrival.
Day 2: Cider safari
Start the day with a delicious breakfast in the hotel's restaurant.
Meeting point is on the quay in Lofthus, a short walk from the hotel. Here the trip continues by boat from Lofthus over to historic Aga at 11:15. After crossing the fjord you will experience cider tasting at award-winning Aga Sideri. Have you tried pairing cheese with cider? If not, you have some good flavors to look forward to!
Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to experience Norway's oldest cluster yard, Agatunet, where a tour and introduction to the historic yard will be given. Among other things, Agatunet has raised Brita Utne, the first generation of hosts at Hotel Ullensvang. Enjoy a traditional lunch in the yard, before returning to Lofthus by boat at 14:10.
Upon return, you can digest the impressions by enjoying the majestic landscape from the hotel's fjord garden. Did you know that the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg was a regular guest, and his little composer's cabin is still in the hotel garden? Or you can enjoy yourself in Ullensvang Bath. Relax in the sauna with panorama views of the fjord and mountains, followed by a refreshing dip in the outdoors pool.
During the dinner, you can expand your cider skills by tasting drops from another of the 19 producers found here in Hardanger.
Day 3: Check out and new adventures
After a good night’s sleep, round off your short break with a hearty breakfast served with local apple juice.
Feel free to stay more nights and experience more of Hardanger. Here you can, among other things, walk Dronningsstien, one of HM Queen Sonja's favorite walks, go on a hike to Vøringsfossen waterfall or take a spectacular selfie on Trolltunga. See more experiences here.
