3 day road trip in beautiful Hardanger with accommodation and dinner included.
Hardanger is like one big postcard, and almost everywhere you turn you look straight into a roaring waterfall or flowering fruit trees. All the beautiful things you've heard about Hardanger are true!
Included in the package are:
- One night at Hotel Ullensvang
- One night at Utne Hotel
- Breakfast and dinner. Drinks are not included.
Our package starts in Lofthus and if you come from the east, you can also experience the
Hardangervidda Scenic Route. Be sure to stop after Hardangervidda at the famous
Vøringsfossen - with a drop of 182 metres, and the spectacular new step bridge over the gorge. See driving route from Voss
here.
The roads in Hardanger have their own speed, and you have to adapt to the natural pace. Here the road lies on shelves in steep valley sides, or literally goes through the apple orchards, and it is perhaps this closeness that makes this route special. When you approach Lofthus and Hotel Ullensvang, you also get a fantastic view of the Hardanger Bridge - one of the world's longest suspension bridges and the longest in Norway.
This short holiday starts at the historic
Hotel Ullensvang, right in the heart of Hardanger. The hotel is located approx. 115 km from Bergen and 40 km from Voss. Hotel Ullensvang had its humble beginnings in 1846. Today, the hotel has facilities such as the beautiful Ullensvang bath, its own tennis hall and a restaurant with food based on exclusive local produce. With its location in the middle of Hardanger, the hotel is the perfect place to experience the region. Surrounded by the striking Hardanger nature, you are guaranteed a fantastic view of Hardanger's distinctive nature, no matter which hotel room you choose.
Good traditional food is the focus at Hotel Ullensvang. In the evening, you enjoy a good 3-course dinner before sleeping soundly in one of the hotel's beautiful rooms. Dinner is served between 19-21.
The next day you continue along the
Hardanger Scenic Route along the fjord and take the ferry from Kinsarvik to the traditional
Utne Hotel, an almost 300-year-old living, intimate and authentic hotel with continuous operation since 1722. The hotel offers a unique atmosphere in a beautiful location by the Hardangerfjord. Staying at Utne Hotel is like coming to grandma's house with its fluffy lace curtains and creaking floors and beds.
All of the hotel's 17 rooms are unique with historical features, furniture and styles. This is the place for good food, good wine and good company - a breather in everyday life. Here you will be served a tasty 5-course dinner (served from 8 pm).
After a hearty breakfast and check-out at Utne Hotel we recommend driving the Scenic Route to Jondal with a stop at the rest area at
Hereiane. This is an area of rock that stretches from Hardangerfjorden's seashore to the mountains, more than 400 meters above sea level.
You can then take the ferry from Jondal to Tørvikbygd and continue the drive towards Norheimsund and Bergen or drive towards Kvanndal and Granvin. The rest area in
Steinstøberget on the way to Kvanndal is idyllically situated with a view of the Hardangerfjord and Folgefonna.
From Granvin, we recommend the detour up to
Skjervsfossen, where a network of paths, stairs, viewpoints, rest areas, rest areas and an eye-catching toilet building has been arranged. If you are heading towards Bergen, we recommend a stop at Steindalsfossen. Here you can walk on the back of the waterfall without getting wet. The waterfall is at its largest and most beautiful in May - June during the snow melt.
